Safe Harbors Class begins new series

The Safe Harbors adult discipleship group is starting a new series and wants to invite anyone who is wanting to have a better sense of what's in the bible to join them on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. Jay Voorhees will be leading us through "The Story We Find Ourselves In," which will be a multi-week survey of the story of the bible. These sessions will help orient newcomers to the bible, as well as help our biblical scholars review the entire scope of the bible as the story that guides our lives. The Safe Harbors class is for persons of all ages, and meets in the basement in the room across from the Fellowship Hall (former Martin Class). For more information contact Jay.

Have you connected to a small group yet?

We continue to believe that connecting to a small discipleship group is an important part of growing in faith and developing a deeper connection to your church community. We have just
started a new group called Safe Harbors, which meets on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. at the church. This class, facilitated by Jay Voorhees, is a safe space to examine your faith without worry about saying the wrong thing or fearing that you don’t know enough about the bible. Come join us as we begin by examining where the bible came from, and why we claim it as our authority.

Stockings for Our Soliders

The Elston Rowland Circle of Old Hickory United Methodist Women is sponsoring a mission project to send “Stockings for our Soldiers”, and want to invite all our OHUMC membership to join us in this effort.

Stockings, with an attached list of possible items, are available in the church office if you wish to participate. Please take one (or more), fill it, and return to the church office no later than October 19th. Please do not take a stocking unless you intend to fill and return it. We hope to fill at least 50 stockings. We will fill more, depending on the response to our request. Please join us in this effort.

This is just our small way of letting our soldiers know that we are behind them! WE OWE THIS TO THEM. Thanks for your support in this project.

Wednesday Dinner and Program On Break Until August

Due to lagging participation in our Wednesday evening dinners and programs, and our planned break beginning in June, we are going to cancel the last two Wednesday night dinners in May. During the summer we will be evaluating what we are trying to accomplish in our Wednesday gatherings, and will likely resume in August.

We are still working on holding a small Bible study group in someone's home during June and July. Be watching for more details in the coming weeks.
